Child Abuse

Child Abuse comes in different forms.  Neglect, physical, verbal and sexual abuse are all forms of child abuse.  There are certain characteristics that can be seen in a child who has been abused such as; frequent injuries, wearing clothes inappropriate to weather to cover injuries, excessively withdrawn, lack of trust, flinching at sudden movements or being "watchful" and "alert" as if something bad is going to happen, just to name a few.

Sometimes people come to see us because an incident happened at home and DCFS was called or sometimes a family member has taken responsibility of a child due to neglect or abuse.  In either situation, we have providers who are able to address these concerns with children.
